The method of synthesis of alkyl derivatives of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro(iso)quinolines and 4-methyl-5-hydroxyethylthiazole using alkyl halogenides as alkylating agents have been studied. Different alkylation conditions have been used. It has been shown that O-alkylation under phase transfer catalysis conditions proceeds with formation of O-alkylation products in high yield. Conditions for efficient N-alkylation of these compounds has been proposed. The influence of substrate structure and alkylating agent on the yield of the product has been analyzed.
Results obtained are the basis for the synthesis of biologically active structural analogs of these compounds. The structure of the synthesized compounds was proved by different physico-chemical methods (element analysis, NMR spectroscopy and mass-spectrometry).
