Globālā tīmekļa darbības pamatā ir pieprasījuma/atbildes protokols HTTP, kurā pieprasījumu vienmēr uzsāk lietotājs, serverim nav paredzēta iespēja informēt lietotāju par izmaiņām, kas notikušas serverī. Darbā tiek aprakstītas globālajā tīmeklī lietotās tehnoloģijas un metodes, kā ar šīm tehnoloģijām panākt, lai serverim būtu iespēja nosūtīt lietotājam datus par izmaiņām izmaiņu notikšanas brīdī. Darbā ir aprakstītas un salīdzinātas datu pārraides metodes polling, long pollig un streaming. Tiek apskatīts arī kā šo metožu ieviešana ietekmē tīmekļa lietotnes lietojamību. World Wide Web is based on a request-response protocol HTTP where the request always is started by user. Web server does not provide the opportunity to inform the user of changes that had occurred on the server. The thesis describes technologies used in the World Wide Web and methods, how these technologies are being used to send data from web server to user when changes occur on server. The thesis describes and compares the data transmission methods polling, long pollig and streaming. It is also examined how these methods affect the usability of Web applications.
