To ietvaros izdalītas 2 asociācijas.
The aim of the Master's work "Importance of the Small River Valleys in Distribution of Xerothermic Vegetation in the Zemgale Lowland" is to find out the role of small river valleys in the distribution of xerothermic grasslands in the Zemgale Lowland. Vegetation described in 11 small river valleys of Zemgale Lowland. Data about 28 environmental factors collected in localities of described vegetation.
60 species of xerothermic vegetation detected in river valleys of Zemgale Lowland. By distribution patterns and frequency the species divided into 7 groups. Plant communities described in the Lowland belong to two classes of dry grassland vegetation – Festuco-Brometea and Trifolium-Geranietea. Two associations are distributed within the classes. The distribution of xerothermic vegetation is influenced by amount of light and soil properties. Small river valleys of Zemgale Lowland serves as a place of refuge for xerothermic vegetation, but occurrence of species will decline by reduction of suitable habitat area and quality.
Master’s work on the theme outlined in four chapters, the information supplemented with 40 pictures, including maps of the distribution of species, 2 tables and 11 appendices.
Keywords: xerothermic vegetation, river valleys, Zemgale Lowland, Festuco-Brometea, migration of species.
