Interneta un jauno tehnoloģiju ienākšana ir mainījuši veidu kā mēs uztveram pasauli. Viena no interneta mediju būtiskām sastāvdaļām ir sociālie mediji. Izmantojot sociālos medijus paveras iespēja veidot dažādas sevis identitātes. Šī darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā cilvēki veido tēlu interneta vidē un vai identificē to ar savu reālo identitāti. Par teorētisko bāzi izmantota Ērvinga Gofmaņa dramaturģiskā pieeja, aplūkots identitātes jēdziens, apskatīti sociālo mediju tipi, kā arī apkopota literatūra par sevis prezentēšanu tiešsaistē. Datu iegūšanas metode ir kvantitatīvā un kvalitatīvā kontentanalīze, kā arī intervijas.
Darba gaitā tika secināts, ka sociālo tīklu lietotāji neatzīst, ka veido savus tēlus interneta vidē, taču atzīst, ka atlasa informāciju, ko publicēt tajā. Rising popularity of the internet and new technologies has affected the way we perceive world around us. One of the most essential parts of internet media, is social media. The use of social media, gives an oportunity of forming different identities of yourself. The goal of this research is to sort out how people form their identities on the internet and if they identify it with their real identity. A dramaturgical aproach of Erving Goffmann is used as a theoretical basis. A concept of identity and social media typology are inspected, literature about online self presentation is gathered. The methods used for gathering data are quantitative and qualitative content analisys and interview.
Social network profile owners do not admit forming their identities on social networks, but do admit filtering the information being published.
