The author observed how those expectations differ between the young people who come from Riga and the ones who come from different towns of Latvia. Data were collected by using online survey.
The survey data indicate that regarding to the career choice and expectations of the income, there is no significant difference between young people from different cities, but the choices are more often affected by family’s material support.
Key words: career choice, material support, the selection conditions, income opportunities, employment in high school.
