Rezultāti: Širmera I tests: 15 grupas A pacientiem, kuri lietoja mākslīgās asaras un liposomas
asaru plēvītes pārplīšanas BUT laiks pieauga no 7,56 +/-1,27 (DS) sek pēc nedēļas lietošanas,
15,03 +/- 1,53sek (DS) pēc 30 dienām un 33,35 +?-3,46 sek (DS) pēc 60 dienām. B grupas 15

The main objective of the present work where following: evaluate for patients with dry
eye syndrome the effects of a spray containing liposomes with an hight percentage of
phosphatidilcoline, that represents the greater part of phospholipids in the tear film.
Patients and methods: A group of 15 patients affected by Dry Eye Syndrome (group A)
used artificial tears at least 4 times a day and a spray of ocular solution containing liposomes
at 8 am and 11 pm ; 15 patients affected by Dry Eye Syndrome (group B), used common
artificial tears at least 4 times a day and a spray of physiological solution at 8 am and 11 pm
on the closed eyelid. The study was 60 days long. Patients underwent weekly controls of
cornea and conjunctiva using the following examinations in order: slit lamp, BUT test (break
up time) and Schirmer I test without anaesthesia after 1 hour.
Results: Test of Schirmer I: the 15 patients of group A treated with artificial tears and
liposomes showed a mean variation of basal tear production of 4,56 + 0,18 (DS) mm in the
strip after a week, of 7,52 + 1,15 (DS) mm after 30 days , of 13,79 + 2,54 (DS) after 60 days
of treatment. The 15 patients of group B dealt with tear substitutes and physiological solution,
showed after a week a mean variation of basal tear production of 3,62 + 0,24 (DS) mm of the
strip of blotting paper , of 5,68 + 0,99 (DS) mm after 30 days, of 11,52 + 1,36 (DS) mm after
60 days of treatment. BUT test : the 15 patients of group A dealt with tear substitutes and
spray with liposomes showed an increased mean break-up time of 7,56 + 1,27 (DS)sec after a
week of treatment, 15,03 + 1,53sec (DS) after 30 days of treatment, 33,35 + 3,46(DS)sec after
60 days of treatment. The 15 patients of group B dealt with tear substitutes and physiological
solution showed increased mean break-up time of 7,29 + 1,16 (DS)sec after a week of
treatment,14,97+ 1,44 (DS) sec after 30 days of treatment, 26,52 + 2,04 (DS) sec after 60
days of treatment.
Conclusions: For patients with dry eye syndrome when sprayed on the eyelid the a spray
containing liposomes, liposomes migrate in tear film and replace the lipid part of tears
producing an insulating effect.
Liposomes trap the water film of tears limiting evaporation.
This produce a great comfort for patients with a refreshing and lenitive feeling of ocular
symptoms. We consider very important the use of this spray in first choice, above all in
patients with a loss of the lipidic film.
