Šī bakalaura tēmas izvēli noteica turpmāku pētījumu arvien augošais pieprasījums dokumentālās literatūras tulkošanā. Pētījuma mērķis bija izanalizēt īpašu vārdu klases, kas visbiežāk izraisa problēmas tulkotājiem, un atrast visefektīvākās tulkošanas stratēģijas uz krievu mērķvalodu. Darba teorētiskā daļa kalpo par pamatu empīriskajam pētījumam. Tā apskata teorētiskos avotus tulkošanas studijās, un īpaši ar kultūru saistītu vārdu - īpašvārdu un realia - tulkošanā. Praktiskā daļa sastāv no atlasītu vārdu faktiskās analīzes un piedāvātām tulkošanas metodēm. Pētījuma rezultāti var papildināt jau esošas zināšanas ar kultūru saistītu vārdu tulkošanā dokumentālās literatūras tekstos.

The goal of the paper was to study the particular classes of lexis which more often than not pose a problem for translators and to suggest the most efficient translation strategies to the Russian target language. The theoretical part of the paper establishes the background to the empirical research by exploring relevant theoretical sources in the translation studies, and especially in the translation of culture-bound lexis, that is, proper names and realia. The empirical part consists of the actual analysis of the selected lexis and the proposed methods for their transfer. The results are meant to supplement the existing knowledge in the translation of culture-bound lexis in non-fiction texts.
