Lunasin is 43-amino acid long peptide with anti–inflammatory, anti–cancer and cholesterol–reducing properties. It was originally isolated from soybeans and later found also in barley, wheat, rye, triticale, oats (Avena sativa L.), European black nightshade (Solanum nigrum L.) and amaranth.
The aim of the study was by immunofluorescence and Western blot method to find out whether lunasin up-take and localisation in neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y.
Results show that lunasin was uptaken and localised in cytoplasm of the neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y, however were observed unspecific binding to the cellular proteins that needs to be further elucidated.
Key words: lunasin, neuroblastoma cell line SH–SY5Y, immunoflourescence, Western blot
