1.Neraugoties uz to, ka prese nebija tik operatīva kā televīzija un radio, tās saturam bija būtiska loma sabiedrības viedokļa formēšanā;
2.Ņemot vērā, ka sabiedriskās attiecības Latvijā tikai sāka veidoties, Latvijas Republikas Augstākās Padomes preses centrs šajā laika periodā strādāja pietiekami efektīvi, īpaši, īstenojot darbu ar ārzemju medijiem.

The goal of this work is to explore what was the work a like for the press and the employees of the Press Center of the Supreme Council in 1991. But it is necessary to take into account that the Republic of Latvia was going through the political, economical, social and cultural system transformation which ended with a regain of independence of Latvia. What is important, this is one of the first attempts to analyze informative activities implemented by the Press Center of the Supreme Council and to try to evaluate its efficiency.
During the production of this work there were used two types of research methods: quantitative – content analysis and qualitative – in-depth interviews. Content analyses were used for analyzing five national Latvian press issues – “Diena”, “Neatkarīgā Cīņa”, “Atmoda”, “Latvijas Jaunatne” and “Lauku Avīze”. The goal of the semi-structured interviews was to listen memories of both (1) Supreme Council Press Center's employees and (2) editors-in-chief from the five national newspapers and better understand the situation in which both sides where working during the Awakening.
At the end of the research two main deductions were coming to the fore:
1.Despite the press during this time was not as fast and operative as TV or radio, it had a major role in shaping people’s opinion.
2.The Press Center in general was effective and appropriate if we take into account that in the beginning of 1990th in Latvia term „public relations” was not used. Most significant the Press Center was for the foreign journalists who were working very actively during the 1991 in Latvia not for local journalists.
