Abstract

Promocijas darbā atklāta lokālo mediju un žurnālistikas nozīme vietējo kopienu komunikācijas procesu veicināšanā. Promocijas darba mērķis ir izvērtēt un analizēt Latgales reģiona preses izdevumu attīstības virzienus, intensitāti, funkcionalitāti un nozīmi reģionā laikā posmā no 1991. gada līdz 2013. gadam, noskaidrojot, kā reģiona laikraksti reprezentē vietējās kopienas un kā tiek sekmēta to komunikatīvā integrācija. Promocijas darbā ir apkopots daudzveidīgs empīriskais materiāls – aptaujas dati, intervijas ar vietējiem žurnālistiem un laikrakstu publikācijas. Izmantojot kvantitatīvo kontentanalīzi, tiek aprakstītas un salīdzinātas kopienas žurnālistikas tendences reģiona laikrakstos, savukārt ar kvalitatīvās kontentanalīzes palīdzību noteikti un izvērtēti Latgales reģiona kopienas reprezentācijas paņēmieni. Pētījumā pirmoreiz pēc Latvijas neatkarības atjaunošanas ir sniegts sistematizēts materiāls par lokālo mediju darbības attīstības tendencēm. Tās atklāja, ka Latgales vietējās preses žurnālistikā dominējošā ir lokālās kopienas, nevis profesionālā identitāte, tādēļ reģiona kultūrsociālie apstākļi (iedzīvotāju etniskā, lingvistiskā un reliģiskā piederība) un laikrakstu sistēma rada nevienlīdzīgu lokālo kopienu komunikatīvās integrācijas un identifikācijas procesu. The significance of the local media and journalism in the facilitating of the community communication processes has been revealed in the doctoral thesis. The objective of the doctoral thesis is to evaluate and analyse the development trends, intensity, functionalism and significance of Latgale press issues in the region from 1991 through 2013, enquiring how regional newspapers represent local communities and the way how the communicative integration has been facilitated. A varied empirical material has been summarised in the doctoral thesis – the data of the questionnaires, the interviews with the local journalists and the publications of the newspapers. The journalism tendencies of the community in the regional newspapers have been described and analysed using the quantitative content analysis, but the representation techniques of Latgale region have been determined and evaluated by the assistance of qualitative content analysis. The research, for the first time after the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia, offers a systematic material regarding the local media development tendencies. It revealed that the identification of local community rather than professional belonging prevails in Latgale local press journalism. Therefore, due to the region’s sociocultural circumstances (ethnic, linguistic, and religious identity of inhabitants) and system of newspapers emerge unequal processes of communicative integration of local communities and identification.
