Devona Burtnieku svītas mālainie nogulumi un to sedimentācijas apstākļi Latvijā

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā tiek raksturoti Burtnieku svītas mālainie nogulumi, kuri nav iepriekš detalizēti pētīti. Tāpat pēdējos desmit gados ir publicēti jauni priekšstati par sedimentācijas apstākļiem Baltijas devona baseinā. Pētījums pamatojās uz ģeoloģisko griezumu dokumentēšanā un granulometriskajā analīzē ar sietu un hidrometra analīzi iegūtajiem datiem, kā arī uz autora iepriekšējā pētījuma rezultātiem. Apkopojot rezultātus, secināts, ka Burtnieku svītas mālainie nogulumi veidojušies mierīgos hidrodinamiskos apstākļos, izgulsnējoties no suspensijas. Paaugstināta suspendēto nogulumu koncentrācija novērojama deltas līdzenumā. Plūdmaiņu kopas, kas atklātas Burtnieku svītas nogulumos Veczemju klintīs, citos griezumos nav sastopamas.

Bachelor's work focuses on documentation of clayey depsoits of the Burtnieki Formation, which have not been studied in detail before. Besides, over the last decade new suggestions on sedimentary environment in the Baltic Devonian basin have been published. This study is based on grain-size analysis, sedimentary logging of outcrops, as well as on previous studies of the author. Based on summarised results of this study it is suggested that the clayey sediments during the Burtnieki time settled out of suspension and formed in non-agitated water conditions. Increased amount of suspended sediments is typical for the delta plain. Tidal bundles found in deposits of the Burtnieki Formation in the Veczemji Cliffs have not been identified in other study sites.
