Bakalaura darba „Romas armijas attīstība manipulārās sistēmas laikā” mērķis ir iepazīties ar izmaiņām Romas militārajās sfērā laika posmā no 300. gada p.m.ē. līdz 107. gadam p.m.ē., balstoties uz senajiem avotiem un histogrāfiju. Šajā laika posmā, kad romiešu karaspēks izmantoja manipulāro takstisko formāciju, notika strauja Romas ekpansija un no mazas pilsētvalsts Itālijas pussalā tā ķluva par Vidusjūras reģiona noteicošo valsti. Ilgstošā karadarbība veicināja romiešu armijas attīstību: armijā ienāca jauns bruņojums, attīstijās ieroču šķiras un notika plašas reformas militārajā organizācijā. The aim of the bachelor thesis „The development of the Roman army during the period of the manipular system” is to get acquainted with the changes in the Roman military sphere in the period from 300 BC till 107 BC. Thesis is based upon primary sources and historiography. During this period, when Roman troops used maniple tactical formation, Roman republic began to expand; from small polis in Italian Peninsula it became leading country of the Mediterranean region. Prolonged warfare contributed to the development of the Roman army: soldiers adopted new weapons, developed military branches and held wide – ranging reforms in the military organization.
