The use of access control systems has become a common occurrence in companies. In number of organizations classic identification technologies have been introduced, regulating the flow of personnel with various aids, for instance, an electronic key, a smart card and an access code. At the same time, biometrical methods of person recognition have become more popular, which entails the usage of unique, characteristic parameters every individual possesses, for example, fingerprints, face and eye iris’s images and voice, thus facilitating the movement of employees and increasing the level of company’s safety.
To verify the effectivity of biometrical access systems, throughout this thesis the situation within the information technology’s service provider’s work environment has been researched where the biometrical access system has been integrated, analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of fingerprint recognition method.
The main problem has been identified within a social service establishment, where for the client protection purposes has been introduced traditional access control system, which is unable to provide its main function. This is the reasoning behind the need of implementation of biometrical system in this establishment as well.
