Bakalaura darbs pēta latīņu izteicienu lietojumu rakstiskajā juridiskajā diskursā. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt latīņu izteicienu raksturīgās īpašības tiesu spriedumos. Pētījumā izmantotas gan teorētiskas, gan empīriskas metodes. Literatūras kritiskais apskats sniedz ieskatu juridiskā diskursa īpatnībās, tiesu spriedumu žanrā un latīņu izteicienu lomā angļu juridiskajā diskursā. Empīriskajā izpētē izmantoti Lordu palātas un Lielbritānijas Augstākās tiesas spriedumi. Kvantitatīvā biežuma analīze atklāja, ka latīņu izteicieni tiek biežāk izmantoti agrākos spriedumos nekā nesenos spriedumos, kā arī tiek biežāk izmantoti ASV tiesu spriedumos nekā Lielbritānijas tiesu spriedumos. Agrākos spriedumos ir lielāka latīņu izteicienu leksiskā daudzveidība, bet tie retāk iekļauti Oksfordas angļu valodas vārdnīcā. The Bachelor Thesis focuses on the use of Latin expressions in written legal discourse. The goal of the Thesis is to investigate characteristic features of Latin expressions in legal judgements. The research employed both theoretical and empirical methods. The critical survey of literature provided an insight into the peculiarities of legal discourse, the genre of legal judgements, and the role of Latin expressions in English legal discourse. The empirical study used the samples of the judgements of the House of Lords and the judgements of the UK Supreme Court. Quantitative frequency analysis revealed that Latin expressions are more frequently used in earlier rather than recent legal judgements of the UK courts as well as in American rather than British legal judgements; earlier judgements have greater lexical variety of Latin expressions, yet fewer of those are included in the Oxford English Dictionary.
