Reģionālā un pilsētas identitāte Baltijas jūras reģiona pilsētās

Abstract

Šī maģistra darba nosaukums ir „Reģionālā un pilsētas identitāte Baltijas jūras reģiona pilsētās”. Darbs tiek fokusēts uz Baltijas jūras reģiona lielākajām un nozīmīgākajām pilsētām, pamatā izvēloties piejūras pilsētas. Nav vienotas izpratnes par to, kur tieši ir Baltijas jūras reģiona robežas. Šajā darbā par pamatu ir ņemts ES Baltijas jūras reģiona programmas „Interreg” teritoriālais limits ar atsevišķiem ierobežojumiem, kas piemēroti šim pētījumam. Darba mērķis ir apskatīt pilsētu identitāti un analizēt Baltijas jūras reģiona identitātes izpausmes tajās. Ir izvirzīta hipotēze – Baltijas jūras reģiona pilsētām ir reģionālās identitātes izpausmes. Darbā ietilpst uzdevumi analizēt gan kopējo Baltijas jūras reģiona identitāti, gan pilsētas identitāti šī reģiona pilsētās. Tā kā šim pētījumam jābūt salīdzinoša rakstura, Baltijas jūras reģiona valstis un konkrētas pilsētas tiek aplūkotas no salīdzinošā rakursa. Tēma ir aktuāla, jo aizvien biežāk Baltijas jūras reģions dažādos līmeņos tiek prezentēts un uztverts kā vienots reģions un pilsētas šajā reģionā strauji attīstās visdažādākajās nozarēs, tāpēc ir interesanti analizēt, kā šie procesi ietekmē reģionālo un pilsētas identitāti. Par darba teorētisko rāmi kalpo teorētiskie materiāli par pilsētas un reģionālajām identitātēm. Tēma ir saistoša, jo par to nav veikti daudzi pētījumi, kas ir arī šī darba izaicinājums. Pētījuma procesā atklājas, ka viedokļi, vai kopēja Baltijas jūras reģiona identitāte eksistē, atšķiras un uzskati par reģiona pilsētu līdzību un dažādību ir pretrunīgi. Tomēr eksistē pārāk daudz sakaru dažādās jomās, lai apgalvotu, ka Baltijas jūras reģionā nav kopējas identitātes. Secinājumi ir izdarīti, ka pilsētas šajā reģionā ir visai vai pat ļoti dažādas, taču Baltijas jūras reģiona ietekme ir manāma, īpaši pilsētās piejūras rajonos.

The title of this thesis is “Regional and Urban Identity in the Baltic Sea Region Cities”. The paper is focused on the largest and most important Baltic Sea region cities, in basic taking the coastal cities. There is not a united understanding, where exactly the borders of the Baltic Sea region are. In this paper as a foundation the territorial limit of the EU Baltic Sea Region Interreg Programme is taken with separate adjustments for this research. The aim of it is to look at the identity of these cities and analyse expressions of the Baltic Sea region identity there. A hypothesis is nominated – Baltic Sea region cities have regional identity expressions. In this paper there are included such objectives as analysing the common Baltic Sea regional identity, as well as the urban identity in cities of this region. As this research has to be of a comparative character, Baltic Sea region countries and particular cities are examined from the comparative point of view. The theme is topical, because more and more the Baltic Sea region on different levels is presented and perceived as a unified region and cities there are rapidly developing in various fields, therefore it is interesting to analyse how these processes influence regional and urban identity in the region. Theoretical materials on urban and regional identities serve as the theoretical framework. The topic is attractive, because not much research is carried out about it, which is also the challenge of this paper. In process of research it was found out that opinions, whether a common Baltic Sea region identity exists, differ and views about similarity and diversity of the cities in the region are controversial. However, too many connections in various fields exist to claim that there is not a common identity in the Baltic Sea region. Conclusions are made that cities in this region are rather or even very different, however the influence of the Baltic Sea region is noticeable, especially in the cities in the coastal areas.
