| dc.description.abstract | Tiesības veikt abortu nav iekļautas ne Amerikas Savienoto Valstu Konstitūcijas Labojumos, ne Eiropas Cilvēktiesību Konvencijā, tādēļ tiesību veikt abortu statuss ir atkarīgs no šo cilvēktiesību dokumentu iztulkošanas, ko veic attiecīgās tiesas.
Šī darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kāpēc Amerikas Savienoto Valstu Augstākā Tiesa un Eiropas Cilvēktiesību Tiesa nonāk pie atšķirīgiem secinājumiem par tiesību veikt abortu statusu.
Šajā darbā uzsvars tiek likts arī uz tiesību veikt abortu būtību, saistību ar citām tiesībām, kā arī dažādajiem veidiem, kā uz tām skatīties.

| dc.description.abstract | Neither the Amendments of the United States of America Constitution, nor European Convention on Human Rights contain a right to abortion hence the status of this right is dependent on the case law of the relevant court.
The aim of this thesis is to clarify what is the reason why the United States of America Supreme Court and the European Court of Human Rights have came to different conclusions regarding the right to abortion.
The meaning of the right to abortion, relationship with other rights and different ways of approaching the right to abortion are also emphasized.
