Statiska vizuāla materiāla narativitāte un tā radītā mentālā struktūra

Abstract

Maģistra darba mērķis ir pētīt statiska vizuāla materiāla radīto mentālo reprezentāciju un pārbaudīt, vai tā atbilst naratīva nosacījumiem. Darba ietvaros tēma ir pētīta no kognitīvās naratoloģijas perspektīvas. Darba teorētisko bāzi veido teorijas par mentālo struktūru veidošanos un naratoloģijas atzinumi par naratīva uzbūvi. Darba empīriskā daļa sastāv no trim savstarpēji saistītiem pētījumiem, kuros dati ir vākti ar aptaujas, produkcijas uzdevuma, pieņemamības vērtēšanas un protokolu analīzes palīdzību. Iegūtie dati ir analizēti ar aprakstošās statistikas, kvantitatīvās kontentanalīzes un korpuslingvistikas palīdzību. Pētījumu gaitā ir apstiprināta hipotēze, ka statisks vizuālais materiāls var būt naratīvs, kā arī ir atbildēts uz pētījuma jautājumu, sīkāk analizējot materiāla radīto mentālo struktūru.

The main goal of my MA thesis is to analyze the mental structure that builds upon perceiving static visual stimuli, and its narrativity. The topic is approached from the perspective of cognitive narratology. Theoretical framework of the thesis is based on the theories of building of mental structures, and elements of narrative structure. The empirical research consists of three interrelated parts where data have been collected using questionnaires, production task, acceptability rating, and experimental concurrent think-aloud protocol. Data have been analyzed by using descriptive statistics, quantitative content analysis, and corpus linguistics. The hypothesis of the MA thesis has been confirmed: static visual stimuli may contain narrative. The research question has been answered by analyzing and describing resulting mental structure.
