Latvijas romu kopienas sociālais stāvoklis no 20.gs. 90.gadiem līdz 2014.gadam

Abstract

Latvijas romu kopiena ir mazākumtautība, kura Latvijā dzīvo jau no 15.gs. Pēdējo 10 gadu laikā romu jautājumam tiek pievērsta plaša uzmanība gan Eiropā, gan arī Latvijā. Tiek īstenoti dažādi projekti romu sociālā stāvokļa uzlabošanai. Maģistra darba mērķis ir konstatēt, kā ir mainījies romu sociālais stāvoklis, sīkāk aplūkojot galvenās romu problēmas izglītības un nodarbinātības jomās un izpētīt, vai un kā ir mainījusies situācija no Latvijas neatkarības atjaunošanas līdz mūsdienām. Darba gaitā autore nonāca pie secinājuma, ka kopienas sociālā stāvokļa uzlabošanu traucē kopienas sašķeltība un valsts līmeņa programmas un finansiāla atbalsta trūkums. Sabiedrībā joprojām plaši izplatīti stereotipi un romu diskriminācija.

Roma community is minority that lives in Latvia since 15th century. Over the last 10 years, the roma issue has received broad attention in both Europe and in Latvia. Various projects for Roma social advancement are being implemented. The aim of master thesis is to identify how the social situation of the Roma has changed, looking in more detail the major problems of education and employment, and to explore whether and how the situation has changed from the restoration of Latvian independence till nowadays. The author concluded that fragmentation of community and the lack of national level program and financial support disturbs to improve community’s social situation. Stereotypes and discrimination against Roma are widely distributed in society.
