In this Masters Thesis mesofauna and the methodology of collecting and analyzing it is discussed. The research was conducted in Taurene perish, Vecpiebalga district. Altogether 55 soil samples were collected from the selected sample plot. The collected samples were extracted with photo-thermo-electrode in LU Biology institute.
During the research process, the author has studied various methodologies for collecting and analyzing mesofauna and become acquainted with several taxonomic groups of mesofauna and their identification.
In the masters thesis data regarding the impact of forestation on mesofauna in former agricultural lands was collected. Furthermore, the potential factors identifying the density variations of mesofauna across the sample plots were indicated.
The collected data was processed and mathematically analyzed by using MS Excel and IBM SPSS Statistc 22. The soil samples and the ordination of mesofauna was done by using PCA PC-ORD program (McCune, M. and Mefford, M. J. 2006).
The thesis consists of two parts – theoretical and practical.
