Dalībnieku vecums bija no 2 līdz 93 gadiem.
Polypharmacy is becoming more common phenomenon in the treatment of different diseases. The polypharmacy means usage of several drugs at the same time. This particular phenomenon is mostly observed among elderly population.
While doing the research, identified pharmacy visitors who bought three or more drugs and all the drugs were intended for personal usage. Drugs active medicine interaction had been tested among themselves with help of interaction calculator.
102 participants took part in the research, 74 of them women, 25 men and 3 children and among the participants dominates the proportion of women. The age of participants ranged from 2 to 93 years. Amount of the polypharmacy increases with the age of the patients, however, children were exposed to the polypharmacy as well. Moreover, most extensive group of participants exposed to the polypharmacy was at the age 70-80.
Hence, established that the most drugs (11) at the same time were taking two participants.
Most often the polypharmacy found in cardiovascular diseases.
The inference emphasized that in 195 cases were detected significant interactions, in 5 cases were detected threatening interactions and in 7 cases were detected double medication, thereby; this kind of therapy must be evaluated more carefully.
