The purpose of this thesis is to study what is the most suitable educational treatment (approach and sequencing) for acquiring mathematical competence in children aged 5-6 years with special visual needs. We take as reference the importance of the different stages that the numerical learning (instrumental skills) has in this school age. Mathematical thinking develops when doing mathematics. The rigor is attached to this discipline from the first knowledge experiences the child has. In the empirical part, we have conducted research on the concept of number based on questionnaires to former students (evoking memories of their mathematical learning and educational path), teachers and families. At the end, a comprehensive intervention plan for acquiring mathematical competence, based on the conclusions is presented.
