Burtnieku svītas smilšaino nogulumu sastāvs un veidošanās apstākļi Svētupes atsegumos

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā tiek pētīti vidusdevona Živetas stāva, Burtnieku svītas smilšainie nogulumieži un to veidošanās apstākļi, Svētupes labā krasta Lībiešu upuralu atsegumos pie Kuiķuļu mājām. Darbā apkopota pieejamā informācija par Burtnieku svītas nogulumiežiem, to tekstūrām un sedimentoģenēzi. Pētījumā veikta granulometriskā analīze, ģeoloģiskā griezuma sastādīšana un slīpslāņojumu mērījumi – paleostraumju tecēšanas virziena interpretācijai. Salīdzinot šī darba rezultātus ar iepriekšējo pētījumu datiem, secināts, ka Burtnieku svītas nogulumi Lībiešu upuralu atsegumā veidojušies fluviālajā kanālā sauszemes – jūras pārejas zonā. Dominējošās gultnes reljefa formas ir pa kanālu migrējošas zemūdens grēdas un sēres. Sedimentācijas procesus ietekmējušas plūdmaiņas, taču to loma nav bijusi noteicošā. Pēc slīpslāņojumu mērījumu rezultātiem secināts, ka paleostraumes plūdušas DA virzienā, ar nelielu izkliedi.

This thesis focuses on the determination of sedimentary environment of the Middle Devonian Burtnieki Formation sandy deposits cropping out at Liv Sacrificial caves next to the Kuiķuli homestead at the right bank of the River Svētupe 10 km east of Salacgrīva town. This work contains summarized information about deposits, their structure and sedimentary environment of the Burtnieki Formation from the previous studies on this subject. Throughout the study various tasks were carried out including sandstone grain-size analysis, measurements of the cross-stratified deposits. The directions of paleocurrents and the possible sedimentary environment have been interpreted. Results suggest that these deposits of the Burtnieki Formation were accumulated in the fluvial channel of fluvial to marine transition zone as migrating subaqueous dunes and sand bars. Sedimentary processes were strongly influenced by fluvial processes and only partially by tides. Measurements of cross stratification indicate the sediments deposited in shallow water under influence of currents oriented to southwest.
