Darbs sastāv no trim daļām. This paper – “The Aspects of Chinese Feng Shui Geomancy in Heian period Japanese Gardens” summarizes the basic ideas of feng shui and takes a look at how they have influenced and manifested in Heian period gardening and landscape design in Japan. In modern days, the era of fast information exchange, the philosophy of achieving personal harmony by putting in order the surrounding environment, that was born in Asia, namely, the practice of feng shui, is gaining even more popularity in Europe. It as received a special attention in terms of home interior arrangement, however it is also frequently used in territory planning and planting of greenery. Of course, together with the popularization of an idea to a bigger auditory, it is difficult to avoid false views and a relative shift away from the original notion. The goal of this study is to research, how the philosophical thinking of feng shui is and what are its aspects, also how are they manifested in the creation for gardens, in the period of history when those ideas were relatively new and had started to strengthen themselves in the beginning by copying, later by assimilation in the Japanese culture. This work consists of three parts. In the first part the terminology used in this paper is being discussed and an overall report is made about the main topic in this work- the gardens and Heian period. The second part is dedicated to the summarization of the basic ideas of the Chinese geomancy, whereas the third part examines the influence of feng shui in Heian period Japanese gardening and what are the aspects, in which they manifest.
