Pasaulē saslimstība ar alerģijām aizvien turpina pieaugt. No dažādām alerģiskām slimībām cieš aptuveni 30 – 40% pasaules iedzīvotāju. The morbidity of allergies in the world continues to grow. About 30 - 40% of the population in the world suffer from a variety of allergic diseases. Respiratory allergies are the most common forms. It is known that 5 - 50% of the world population suffer from allergic rhinitis and 5 - 12% of population - from bronchial asthma. The goal of the Master work is to find out the most common allergens for population of Latvia that causes respiratory allergies and what medications are most often used in their treatment. The Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital pulmonary functional diagnostics database is used in the research. It is found that the most common allergens for population of Latvia that cause respiratory allergies are dust (32%) and pollen (23%). The most common dust allergens are dust mites and construction dust, but most common pollen allergens - alder, birch, hazel, chamomile, common wormwood, poplar and wild wormwood pollen. The second generation antihistamine preparations, including Zyrtec (Cetirizine dihydrochloride), Claritin (loratadine), but unfortunately equally often the first generation preparation Tavegyl (Clemastine) are used in frequently selected therapy for the prevention of allergic rhinitis.
