Maģistra darbā ir pētītas metaforas par Eiropas Savienību laikrakstā “Diena” no 2015. gada 1.janvāra līdz 30. jūnijam – Latvijas prezidentūras Eiropas Savienības padomē laikā, nolūkā izzināt metaforu lietojuma praksi drukātajā medijā un biežāk sastopamos metaforu izmantojuma gadījumus un īpatnības. Darba teorētisko daļu veido Džordža Leikofa (George Lakoff) radītās konceptuālās metaforu teorijas apskats, un citu autoru, kuru pētījumu objekts ir metafora, iebildumi Leikofa teorijai. Pētījuma lauka analizēšanai ir izmantota viena no biežāk lietotajām drukāto mediju satura izpētes metodēm – kontentanalīze. Kā atbalstošas metodes ir izmantotas pieņemamības sprieduma un brīvā apraksta metodes nolūkā izzināt atrasto metaforu interpretācijas īpatnības, uztveri un pieņemamību. Darba gaitā ir noskaidrotas biežāk sastopamās un lietotās metaforu kategorijas, kā arī to izmantošanas paradumi. Metaphors about the European Union in the newspaper ‘Diena’ during the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (from January 1st till June 30th, 2015) have been studied in this master’s thesis with the aim to discover trends of metaphors’ use in printed media and the most common cases and particularities of metaphors everyday use. The theoretical chapter of this thesis is composed by review of conceptual metaphor theory invented by George Lakoff as well as from the objections from other authors who have been studied metaphors. Content analysis as the most common method for studying content of printed media is used to identify and analyze research field. Judgement task and free description is used as supporting methods with the aim to find out interpretation ways of found metaphors, as well as perception and acceptability. During the course of the work, the most common metaphor categories were find out and particularities of use of them was examined.
