The aim of this study is to do the research on the relationship between core affect, amount of food intake and symptoms of eating disorders. In this experimental study participants were 43 women, 18-55 years old (average age 23,81 years). During the experiment changes in core affect were made by video episodes, making core affect more negative and deactive and after that asking participants to eat chocolate as a part of the experiment and asking to fill the Eating Attitudes Test. The analysis of data showed that there was no statistically significant correlation between the amount of food intake and core affect dimensions, and also that symptoms of eating disorders do not correlate with the amount of food intake. For now this is the only study in Latvia and the world which experementally has studied the relationship between core affect and eating behaviour, and the results have given the possibility of various interpretations about what are the contributing factors that affect the amount of food intake. Keywords: core affect, negative affect, eating behaviour, food intake.
