Darbs pēta birokrātismus sabiedriskajā saziņā. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt, kā veidojas nozīme Eiropas Savienības (ES) diskursā un atklāt vissarežģītākos aspektus priekš tiem valodas lietotājiem, kam angļu valoda nav dzimtā. Šī darba loks ir sašaurināts līdz vienam programmas Horizon 2015 dokumentam, un visi piemēri šajā darbā ir ņemti no iepriekšminētā dokumenta. Pētnieciskā metode ir diskursa analīze. Autore pieradīja ka zināmas birokrātismu pazīmes, kā īpašības vārdi un modalitāte, var rādīt dokumentā neskaidrību . Šī darba rezultāti ir piemēru, paskaidrojumu un rekomendāciju kopsavilkums, kas varētu palīdzēt strādāt ar neskaidras valodas gadījumiem un ES dokumentācijas praktisks pētījums, kurā tiek analizēti atlasīti neskaidras valodas piemēri. Darba saturs varētu noderēt visiem, kas ir ieinteresēti vai kas strādā ar ES dokumentāciju. The present paper focuses on features of bureaucratese in social communication. The aim of the thesis is to explore how the meaning is formed in the European Union (EU) institutional discourse and to find out the most problematic aspects for non-native language users. The scope of the present thesis is limited to one programme of Horizon 2015, and all the examples provided in the thesis are taken from this document under analysis. The research method is discourse analysis. The author has proved that certain features of bureaucratese, such as adjectives and modality, might be used vaguely and thus create ambiguity in the documentation. The results of the thesis are the combination of examples, explanations and recommendations that might help to deal with certain cases of vague language used in the EU documentation and practical analysis of the EU document explaining selected cases, which contain features of vagueness. The content of the study could be useful for everyone interested in or who work with the EU documentation.
