Sejas uzticamības ietekme uz spriedumu izdarīšanu juridiskā kontekstā

Abstract

Šī pētījuma mērķis ir eksperimentāli pārbaudīt, vai sejas uzticamība ietekmē spriedumu izdarīšanu juridiskā kontekstā. Tas tika darīts, pētījuma dalībniekiem veicot fiktīvu noziegumu materiālu apskati, vērtējot aizdomās turētā vainas iespējamību, izsakot pārliecību par izdarītajiem spriedumiem un novērtējot prezentēto pierādījumu nozīmību. Noziegumi bija dažāda smaguma (smags vai viegls). Lietas materiāliem tika pievienoti uzticamas vai neuzticamas aizdomās turētā indivīda sejas attēli. Kontroles grupā netika pievienoti sejas attēli. Respondenti tika randomizēti sadalīti divās eksperimentālajās un vienā kontroles grupā. Rezultāti norāda, ka, izdarot spriedumus par aizdomās turēto, sejas attēlam vai attēla neesamībai nebija ietekmes uz spriedumu izdarīšanu. Diskusijā ir apspriesti iegūto rezultātu iespējamie iemesli un to praktiskā un zinātniskā nozīmība.

The aim of this study was to experimentally verify if the trustworthiness of the face can affect the judgement making process in a legal context. To achieve this goal a study was made where participants had to inspect materials of a fictitious crime and assess the likelihood of the suspects fault while expressing confidence in the judgments made and assessing the significance of evidence presented. The crimes were of varying severity (severe or moderate). The facial image of the suspect (trustworthy and un trustworthy looking face) was added to the case file. The control group had no added facial image of the suspect. Respondents were randomly divided into two experimental and one control group. Results indicate that facial image or absence of it has no effect in the process of making a judgement. In the part of discussion possible reasons of the results and their practical and scientific significance are outlined.
