Šī pētījuma mērķis ir pierādīt Bībeles un reliģiskās sfēras fona zināšanu būtisko lomu protestantu reliģiskas literatūras tulkošanā. Šim nolūkam, kā protestantu literatūras klasiskais piemērs, Čarlza Sperdžena sprediķi tika analizēti no žanra pazīmju, tajā skaitā Bībeles intertekstualitātes, skatu punkta. Pētījuma teorētiskajā daļā ir aplūkoti intertekstualitātes un žanra koncepti, kā arī izpētītas dažādas pieejas reliģisko tekstu tulkošanā. Pētījuma empīriskā daļa satur sprediķu lingvistisko un kontekstuālo analīzi. Pētījums tiek veikts, analizējot tekstu korpusu, kas ietver sešus sprediķus, kas atrasti dažādos tiešsaistes avotos. Pētījumā tiek atklāti Bībeles intertekstuālo atsauču veidi un tiek demonstrēta Bībeles fona zināšanu izšķirošā nozīme reliģiskās literatūras tulkošanā. The present research paper is aimed to prove the crucial role of biblical and sphere specific background knowledge in the translation of Protestant religious literature. For that purpose the analysis of sermons by Charles Spurgeon as a classical example of Protestant religious literature was undertaken from the point of view of its generic features, including biblical intertextuality. The comprehensive study of the concepts of intertextuality, genre and approaches to the translation of religious texts is performed in the theoretical part of the research paper. The empirical part of research comprises linguistic and contextual study of the sermons. The study is based on the text corpus, consisting of six sermons from different online sources. The analysis reveals several types of biblical intertextual references and demonstrates the crucial role of biblical background knowledge for the translation of religious literature.
