Pašnāvības tiek analizētas no socioloģiskās perspektīvas. The objective of this study is to find out schools role in suicide prevention and a teacher’s perspective about it. Author is examining if teachers consider themselves gatekeepers. Suicides were researched from sociological perspective. Actor network theory was used in analysis. To achieve the objective, the author conducted semi-structured interviews with 8th-12th grade high school teachers and an expert on the matter. The network around a pupil is made by school, family and society. Suicide prevention could be done in schools but teachers believe that family has to take the main responsibility in suicide prevention. A teacher in the gatekeeper position can be characterized by their motivation, trust and knowledge, how to help youth at risk. Teachers fulfill the role of gatekeepers by reporting students mental health problems to parents and school staff, however they do not see suicide prevention as priority.
