In “The Morals of the antihero archetype in Hollywood movies: Hermeneutic analysis of audience opinions” the author seeks to find how the antihero archetype functions in modern superhero films using narrative analysis of four movies as well as determine how the audience views the antihero archetype in films. The author will be analyzing ‘Ghost Rider’, ‘Watchmen’, ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Deadpool’. The theoretical data will be based on Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey” and the archetype models of Carl Jung. The Empirical data will be obtained through the analysis of film narrative with the syntagmatic approach of Vladimir Propp and the paradigmatic approach of Claude Lévi-Strauss. The results provide information on the role of the antihero in superhero films as well as show how the audience perceives the archetype of the antihero.
