In the last years the use of modern technologies has appeared in preschool education. Therefore, the aim of the Diploma Paper was to find out how the opportunities which modern technologies offer can be used to teach English vocabulary to 5-6 year old children. To do the research the author carried out the case study in kindergarten “Jāņtarpiņš” in Salaspils for two months. 17 young learners and their parents took part in the research. In order to collect data, the following data collection methods were used: questionnaire for parents, author’s observations after implementing the digital games and test to check if learners have learnt any new words. By analysing the data gained from parents’ questionnaire, the author of the Paper concluded that all the learners use modern technologies every day. Thus, implementation of digital games and positive test results showed that digital games help learners remember and learn English vocabulary. The author of the Diploma Paper suggests foreign language and preschool teachers use digital games in their lessons as it is an effective way how to teach vocabulary to very young learners.
