Maģistra darba tēma ir “Patvēruma meklētāju atspoguļojums Latvijas un Vācijas medijos”. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt ar patvēruma meklētājiem saistīto diskursu un to atspoguļojumu kopumā četros izvēlētos interneta medijos- divos Latvijas un divos Vācijas: DELFI, Latvijas avīze, Der Spiegel un Die Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Lai īstenotu darba mērķi, 2015. un 2016.gadā tika izvēlēti pa trim mēnešiem, kuriem piemērot kritisko diskursa analīzi, tādējādi apskatot un analizējot attiecīgo mediju diskursu un tā izmaiņas abos gados, kā arī patvēruma meklētāju atspoguļojumu un ar to saistītās iezīmes. Vācu medijos patvēruma meklētāju atspoguļojums bija pārsvarā pozitīvā un atbalstošā veidā; Latvijas- daudz lielākā mērā neitrāli un konstruktīvi. The title of the work is “The portraying of asylum-seekers in the mass media of Latvia and Germany”. The purpose of the research was to examine the representation and the discourse surrounding the asylum seekers in news articles from a total of four – two Latvian and two German - online sites: DELFI, Latvijas Avize, Der Spiegel and Die Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The focus was on three months in 2015 and three months in 2016, where, with the help of the theory of the critical discourse analysis, the media discourse and the changes concerning it in both time periods, as well as characteristics of reporting about and the portrayal of the asylum seekers was looked into. In the German media, the reporting on asylum seekers was in a positive and supportive way; in the Latvian- much more neutral and constructive.
