Abstract

Mačute S. 2017. Vēlā devona akantodes Ketleru svītas Varkaļu ridas smilšakmeņos. Bakalaura darbs. Rīga, Latvijas Universitāte, Ģeogrāfijas un Zemes zinātņu fakultāte. 67. lpp. Bakalaura darbā ir pētīti augšdevona, Famenas stāva Ketleru svītas Varkaļu ridas nogulumi un akantožu makroskopiskās un mikroskopiskās fosīlijas. Lauka darbi tika veikti 2016. gada jūlijā-augustā ģeoloģiski ģeomorfoloģiskā dabas pieminekļa „Ketleru atsegums” teritorijā. Sastādīts un aprakstīts ģeoloģiskais griezums, ievākti smilšakmens un fosīliju paraugi. Veikta smilšaino nogulumu detalizēta granulometriskā analīze. Izmantojot paleontoloģisko un sedimentoloģisko pētījumu rezultātus, tika noskaidroti smilšakmens veidošanās apstākļi un akantožu izplatība, daudzveidība un taksonomiskā piederība. Katrā analizētajā smilšakmeņu paraugā konstatētas akantožu zvīņas, kas īpaši bagātīgi sastopamas vidējgraudainā smilšakmens slānī. Raksturota akantožu zvīņu un dzelkšņu morfoloģiskā un histoloģiskā uzbūve. Kopumā atrastas vismaz trīs sugu pārstāvju zvīņas, no kurām divas, iespējams, pieder jaunām akantožu ģintīm, kā arī pirmo reizi atzīmēti divi dažādi dzelkšņu veidi.

Mačute S. 2017. Late Devonian acanthodians in the sandstones of the Varkaļi Member, Ketleri Formation. Bachelor thesis. Rīga, University of Latvia, Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences. 67 pp. The Upper Devonian, Famennian deposits of the Ketleri Formation, Varkaļi Member, and acanthodian macroscopic and microscopic fossils have been studied in the Bachelor`s thesis. Field works took place at a geological and geomorphological natural monument „Ketleri outcrop” at the end of July and beginning of August of 2016. Geological section was drawn up and described, and samples of sandstones and fossils were collected during the field work. A very detailed grain size analysis of sandy deposits was made. Sedimentary environment of the sandstone was clarified using sedimentological and paleontological research; distribution of acanthodians, their diversity and taxonomic membership was studied. Acanthodian scales were found in each analysed sandstone’s sample; these are very common in the specific medium-grained sandstone layer. Acanthodian scales and spines were characterized by their morphological and histological structure. Thus, at least three types of scales or three species were found from which it might be that two of them belong to the new acanthodian genera. Two types of acanthodian spines from this site were found for the first time.
