Abstract
Religious-philosophical writings XXIII are devoted to the international conference “The Church and the Totalitarian Regime: Secularization and Strategies of Survival”. This conference was organised by the researchers of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the University of Latvia within the framework of the project of the Latvian Council of Science “Thematization of Religious Experience in the Situation of Post-Liberal Spirituality: Latvian Case”. The conference took place in Riga on the 27th–28th of October 2016. The conference discussed the following issues: Church-power relations in a totalitarian state; politics and legislation in the field of religion; administrative control in Church affairs; the repression against representatives of the Church and religious organisations under conditions of totalitarian regimes; Church and national ideology in a totalitarian state; Church and political propaganda. The researchers presented papers also on the relations between The Church and informal social-political movements in the conditions of totalitarian regimes; Church and school; religious education and education; inheritance of tradition and education problems of church servants and attitudes towards religious values and religiosity in the context of the secularised educational system.
