Pētījumā tika izmantotas 2 aptaujas: Kolina „Patreizējā un vēlamā ķermeņa tēla attēli pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem” (Body image perception and preferances in preschool children ;Collins, 2001).Vecāku pārliecības saistībā ar bērna ķermeņa tēlu un ēšanas paradumiem (The Parenting Intentions for Body image and Eating patterns in Childhood; Damiano, Hart, & Paxton, 2015). The aim of the study was to examin how preschool children and their parent are able to evaluate childs body image and how its related with parental knowledge about body image formation and eating related behaviour. There were a total of 108 participants – 54 parents and 54 children. Among parents 41 women aged from 29 till 40 (M = 33,17, SD = 3,75) and 13 men aged from 28 till 46 (M = 34,85, SD = 4,98). Among children there were 22 girls aged from 4 till 7 years (M = 5,95, SD = 0,86) and 32 boys aged from 4 till 7 (M = 5,74, SD = 0,96). For data collection two different methods were used: Body image perception and preferances in preschool children, body image scale by gender (Collins, 2001), The Parenting Intentions for Body image and Eating patterns in Childhood (Damiano, Hart, & Paxton, 2015). Body mass index for children was calculated. Research results showed that most of parents and children can`t evaluate their children body appropriately. Collecting children answers it shows that preschool children are more capable to talk about things they like in body than they don`t like, specific answers about things they don`t like in body were only able children who have experieced real trauma or gained imperfection through life.
