Linde, K. 2018. Linde, K. 2018. Famennian deposits and fossils of the Ketleri Formation in the Ketleri outcrops. Master Thesis. Riga, University of Latvia. Sandy deposits of the Ketleri formation, Upper Devonian, uppermost Famennian, and vertebrate macro and microfossils have been studied. In August 2016, samples of macrofossils and sandy deposits were collected during the expedition in the Ketleri outcrops near the former Ķetleri farm. Geological sections of the outcrops were prepared, grain size analysis of sand samples and investigations of microscopic remains and macrofossils were performed. From the results of the grain size and facies analysis, it can be concluded that the sediments accumulated in a tidal-delta environment, in which the conditions of sedimentation became increasingly shallower in the upward direction. The vertebrate remains form the Ketleri Formation are mostly rounded, strongly fragmented, almost always disarticulated skeletal elements. These indications point to a relatively long transport of the fish and tetrapod remains.
