Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt, kāda ir intrapersonālās emociju regulācijas, interpersonālās emociju regulācijas saistība ar attiecību intimitāti. Pētījumā piedalījās 61 heteroseksuālās attiecībās esoši pāri. Respondenti bija vecumā no 23 līdz 45 gadiem (M=31,05; SD=6,50). The aim of this study was to investigate the associations between intrapersonal emotion regulation, interpersonal emotion regulation and the couple’s intimacy ratings. 61 heterosexual couples participated in the study. Respondents were between the ages of 23 and 45 (M=31,05; SD=6,50). The average length of the couples’ relationships was 8 years and 3 months or 100 months (M=100,39 SD=83,68). 50 couples were married, the average length of their marriage was 6 years and 5 months, or 78 months (M =78,58; SD=12,31). The Emotional Regulation Survey, Regulation of Others and Self Survey and the Intimate Relationship Assessment Survey were completed by the research respondents in order to examine these associations. The results show that there is a significant correlation between intrapersonal emotion regulation, interpersonal emotion regulation and the couple’s intimacy ratings. Similarly, significant correlations were found within the same couple for cognitive reappraisal, one’s own affect improvement, the other’s affect improvement, and the couple’s intimacy ratings. The results indicate that expressive suppression, and the other’s affect worsening as independent variables are significant negative predictors of couple intimacy. In contrast, the other’s affect improvement as an independent variable is a significant positive predictor of the couple’s intimacy ratings.
