Augsnes mezofauna -Oribatida, Mesostigmata un Collembola var izrādīt jutību uz kādu no apkārtējās vides faktoriem, tāpēc to bieži izmanto pētījumos apvienojot at dažādiem elementiem. Cities are densely populated areas where soil degradation is often observed as a result of daily pollution. Losing its natural functions, the soil is also unable to provide adequate atmospheric health, as well as home to a large amount of living creatures in the soil. Soil's ability to sucessfully perform ecological functions can be determined by indicators - the help of invertebrates, by analyzing their structure and quantitative results of bio-objects, which is also a practice already common in the world. Soil mesofauna -Oribatida, Mesostigmata and Collembola can show a sensitivity to any of the environmental factors, so it is often used in research combining different elements The aim of the master's thesis is to find out the composition of the mesofauna soil in different habitats of Riga city, taking the urban environment gradient as a base factor: center - suburb. Master’s thesis consists of 8 chapters and 26 subdivisions, conclusion, introduction and appendix. The work provides general information on soil mesofauna, urban structure, studies in the world about mesofauna and urban connections and the situation in Riga. The chapter "Materials and Methods" provides a description of the research, laboratory work and analysis. A total of 66 pictures, 2 tables and 8 appendixes were added that reflects the results of the study. The conclusions summarize the thoughts put forward in the discussion.
