There is a constant demand for new therapies to treat and prevent cancer using medical herb products. Aim of the master`s work was to analyse whether the extracts of the Vaccinium genus in different concentrations affect the viabilty of primary breast cancer MCF-7, metastatic breast cancer MDA-MB-231 and skins mesenchymal stem cells D6. Five berries were used in this study – blueberries, high bush blueberries, American and European cranberries and lingonberry. Extracts were added to cells at concentrations from 0,0016 mg/ml to 1 mg/ml and with colorimetric assay (CCK-8) and microscopy cell viability and IC50 was determined. MDA-MB-231 cell viability compared to MCF-7 and D6 was reduced most. The most significant effect no MDA-MB-231 cell viability was from high bush blueberries, American cranberries and lingonberries extracts.
