The aim of the Bachelor’s degree thesis is to research the relationship between the emotional intellect and the burnout syndrome in the groups of debt collection specialists and customer service specialists, and to find out whether any differences exist between these groups. A total of 93 respondents participated in the research according to the availability principle, of whom n=44 - debt collection specialists and n=49 - customer service specialists, who work in banks or credit institutions. To reach the goal of the research, two surveys were conducted. The emotional intellect was researched, using the Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test; Schutte, Malouff, Hall, Haggerty, Cooper, Golden & Dornheim, 1998, as mentioned by Schutte, Malouff & Bhullar, 2009), and the burnout syndrome was researched by means of Maslach Burnout Inventory – General Survey), in abbreviated form MBI – GS, which was adapted within the framework of the Master’s degree thesis of D. Caune (Maslach, Jackson & Leiter, 1996, as mentioned by Caune, 2004). The results acquired from the research show that statistically important positive relationships are observed in the group of customer service specialists relating to professional efficiency according to all emotional intellect sub-scales: emotional intelligence, own emotion management, social skills and use of emotions, and statistically important positive relationships are observed in the group of debt collection specialists relating to professional efficiency based on emotional intelligence, own emotion management and social skills. In reply to the question set in the research on whether there are any differences between two groups, the results show that there are no differences between the emotional intellect and burnout indicators for the groups of debt collection and customer service specialists.
