Abstract

The purpose of the study was to explore the associations between experience of abuse, anger and aggression for 16-18 year old youth. The second step of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of two individual rehabilitation programs. 288 students completed the questionnaire packet about experienced violence, trauma symptoms, anger and aggression at least one time, and 98 students – a second time after 3 months. 40 students took part in the investigation of the effectiveness of the Individual Anger Management Program and the Individual Integrative Rehabilitation. Results show that the higher level of the experienced violence predicts the higher level of the aggression. The level of trauma symptoms and of anger expresses did not change during the 3 month period for the students who did not receive the rehabilitation program. Both of the utilized programs were effective in reducing aggressive behavior, but the effect was different for each program. There was greater reduction in the level of aggression with the Individual anger management program, than with the Integrative rehabilitation program. Individual anger management program's effectiveness in reducing aggression affects only the initial level of aggression and the level of suffered emotional violence level, but Individual integrated rehabilitation’s effectiveness depends from more factors. Keywords: anger, aggression, experienced violence, adolescents, anger management
