Abstract
Anotācija.
Darbā tiek realizēti divi, savstarpēji papildinoši mērķi. Viens vēsturisks, otrs
filozofisks.

Annotation. This research is developed, focusing on two interrelated objectives. One of them is historical, the other – philosophical. The historical goal of this work is to explore those phenomenological concepts of the image consciousness, which are close followers of the research program established by the founder of phenomenology – Edmund Husserl. The philosophical goal of this work is to understand the potential and limits of a phenomenological concept of the image consciousness in contrast with some theories on picture by researchers from the field of semiotics. This research verifies a hypothesis that in certain situations a picture presents the depicted thing, rather than represents it, and, in addition – endows it with a peculiar corporeity. This research is done, using the phenomenological method, mostly understanding it in the sense formulated by Edmund Husserl. Keywords: Picture, Image Consciousness, Phenomenology, Presence, Representation
