Amerikas alternatīvā vēsture Filipa K. Dika un Filipa Rota romānos

Abstract

Vieni no spilgtākajiem alternatīvās vēstures žanra pārstāvjiem ir Filips K. Diks un Filips Rots – “Cilvēks Augstajā Pilī” (1962) un “Sazvērestība pret Ameriku” (2004) romānu autori. Šī bakalaura darba mērķis ir alternatīvās vēstures literārā žanra definēšana, salīdzinot alternatīvās vēstures pazīmes divos romānos un risinot jautājumu par alternatīvās vēstures žanra izpēti literārajās studijās, kā arī raksturot šajās studijās gūto pieredzi. Pētijums tika veikts trīs posmos: attiecīgo literāro pētījumu un teorētiskās literatūras analīze. Salīdzinošās un žanra literārās analīzes metožu pielietojums, pievēršot uzmanību alternatīvās vēstures žanra raksturīgajām iezīmēm divos romānos. Atrasto iezīmju salīdzināšana un darba secinājumu apkopošana. Pētījuma rezultāti ieskicē abu analizēto romānu alternatīvā vēstures žanra raksturīgās iezīmes, kā arī lauj gūt priekšstatu par literārā žanra definīciju.

The core literary figures in the genre of alternate history are Philip K. Dick and Philip Roth – the authors of best-known novels – ‘The Man in the High Castle’ (1962) and ‘The Plot Against America’ (2004). The goal of this research paper is to argue about the literary genre of alternate history by comparing the narrative of alternate history in two novels and to address the development of studying the problem of alternate history in literary studies and to characterize the experience gained in these studies. The research was performed in three stages: the analysis of relevant literary research and theoretical literature. The use methods of comparative and genre literary analysis, focusing on the characteristic features of the alternate history genre. The comparison of the novels is to draw the relevant conclusions. The research results outlined the characteristic features of the alternate history genre traced in both analyzed novels.
