High level of English language proficiency is one of the requirements to work in the aviation field where English is a common working language. The present research applied a case study method which aimed at evaluating the usefulness of the selected English for flight attendants course books and online learning materials for self-directed learning purposes. The study found that the questioned flight attendants would like to improve all language skills, and they expected grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation aspects, as well as tests, visual means, wordlists and supplementary resources to be included in the materials. The results of the material evaluation have shown that even though the selected materials incorporate the tasks which require direct communication, they can be used in self-directed learning, as there are guided exercises which do not require teachers’ support and collaboration with others. It has been concluded that the selected course books are closer to meet the work-related language needs of flight attendants than the online resources.
