Antīkās filozofijas recepcija Latvijas teritorijā ir jauna, maz pētīta tēma. Recepcija latviešu valodas izteiksmē laikā no 19.gs.b. līdz 20.gs. 30.g.v. ir ritējusi lielumis tā laika valodas prakses gultnē. Mācību iestāžu klausītavās tā ir izpaudusies filozofijas vēstures kursa sastāvdaļa, tiesa, jo bieži citu zemju filozofijas vēsturnieku darbu satura vienkāršotu kompilāciju atveidojumā. Atsevišķi antīkās filozofijas izdibinājumu aizmetņi nepārtapa patstāvīgā un pēctecīgā ziniskā interesē, kura spēja saglabāt vien izglītojoši pedagoģisku specifiku. Filozofijas recepcija ir pieņēmusi arī ārpusakadēmiskas, privātas iniciatīvas formas, kurās tika panākti vienīgie šajā jomā publiski pieejamie rezultāti, kuri tomēr nespēja materiāli nodrošināt atsevišķu to radītāju fizisko esamību.en_US
Reception of the philosophy of Classical Antiquity in Latvia is a new, little explored theme. Starting from the end of the 19th century and through to the middle of the 1930,’s reception, in terms of the way it has manifested itself in the Latvian language, has been taking its course predominantly in accordance with the main language trends existing at the time. In the lecture rooms of education establishments it has been in- cluded as part of the course in the History of Philosophy. It would be true to say that quite often it was in the form of a simplified reproduction of the compiled works pro- duced by historians of philosophy in other countries. The origins of some of the re- sults of the findings of ancient philosophy did not grow into an independent and sus- tained scholarly interest, thus retaining solely its educational and training specificity. Reception has also taken the form of individual (non-academic) initiatives, gen- erating the only results of their kind in this particular field. These results were acces- sible to wide audience, but nevertheless they could not provide the living for some of those individuals who generated them.en_US
