Changing the climate during the Holocene also changes the conditions of sediment accumulation, which affects the properties of the sediment. Meanwhile, plant macroremain accumulated in sediments allow us to judge the changes in the character of the vegetation and the level of the lake during their development. The aim of the Master's thesis was to find out how the nature of sediment accumulation during the development of Vilkmuiža and Talsi Lake changed during the Holocene, analyzing the sediments of these lakes with the method of determination of loss on ignition and plant macroremainsl composition of plants. The study found that the accumulation of sediments during the Holocene of both lakes has a high proportion of carbonates, which gradually decreases at the top of the lake sediment sections, as well as a very small diversity of aquatic species in the whole section when compared to other lakes.
