Darbā aplūkots jautājums par normatīvu patiesību iespējamību un saistībā ar to izvērtēta Dereka Parfita tēze, ka pastāv objektīvas nereducējami normatīvas patiesības, no kurām dažas ir morālas patiesības. Darbā argumentēts, ka uzskatam, ka nav iespējamas nereducējami normatīvas patiesības, ir neticamas konsekvences, kas ir arguments par labu tam, ka šādas patiesības ir iespējamas. Tomēr vienlaikus Parfita tēze, ka pastāv šādas patiesības un ka tās ir ne tikai universālas, bet arī objektīvas, ir saistīta ar metafiziskām un epistemoloģiskām problēmām. The thesis is dedicated to the problem of the possibility of normative truths, and in this context, the thesis contains critical assessment of Derek Parfit's claim that there are objective irreducibly normative truths, some of which are moral truths. The thesis shows that if we denied the possibility of irreducibly normative truths then it would lead to counterintuitive conclusions, which is an argument in favor of Parfit's claim. However, at the same time, the idea that there are objective irreducibly normative truths leads to metaphysical and epistemological problems. The thesis shows that Parfit's solution to these problems is not entirely satisfactory.
