Atkritumu apsaimniekošanas un pārstrādes nozares vērtējums Latvijā

Aizvien pieaugošais atkritumu apjoms rada virkni problēmu visā pasaulē. Lai samazinātu apglabāto atkritumu apjomu, ES dalībvalstis pāriet uz aprites ekonomiku. ES visām dalībvalstīm ir noteikusi mērķus par pārstrādāto sadzīves atkritumu īpatsvaru un poligonos apglabāto atkritumu apjomu, kas tuvāko 15 gadu laikā ir jāsasniedz. Darba mērķis ir analizēt un novērtēt atkritumu apsaimniekošanas un pārstrādes nozares attīstības tendences Latvijā un izstrādāt rekomendācijas ES uzstādīto mērķu sasniegšanai. Iegūtie rezultāti liecina, ka ar līdzšinējām tendencēm Latvija nespēs sasniegt ES noteiktos mērķus. Pārāk maz sadzīves atkritumu tiek nodoti otrreizējai pārstrādei, jo sabiedrībā ir dažādi šķēršļi, kas kavē atkritumu šķirošanu un iedzīvotājiem trūkst motivācijas. The growing volume of waste poses a number of challenges worldwide. In order to reduce the amount of disposed waste, EU Member States are moving to a circular economy. The EU has set targets to all Member States on the proportion of recycled municipal waste and the volume of landfilled waste to be achieved in the next 15 years. The aim of the work is to analyse and assess trends in the waste management and recycling sector in Latvia and to develop recommendations to achieve the objectives set by the EU. The results have shown that Latvia will not be able to achieve the EU's stated objectives with previous trends. Too few municipal waste is recycled because there are a variety of barriers in society that prevent waste sorting and people from being motivated.
