Senekas pārdomas par nāvi: mūsdienu konteksts

Abstract

Nāves medicinizēšanas, eifemizācijas un transhumānisma diskursu noslogotajā šodienas realitātē Senekas filozofijas revitalizācija var kalpot par mudinājumu pārdomāt attieksmi pret mirstību un dzīvi tās perspektīvā. Senās Romas domātājs piedāvā aplicējamu domāšanas un uzvedības ietvaru, kas paredz baiļu atvairīšanu, sagatavošanos miršanas brīdim un tādējādi arī pastāvēšanas optimizēšanu un intensificēšanu, kā arī pašnāvības iespēju noteiktos gadījumos. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir Senekas pārdomu par nāvi sistemātiska atklāšana, ievietojot tās mūsdienu kontekstā. Darba nosaukumā fiksētais mūsdienu konteksts caurvij darbu divos aspektos. Pirmkārt, ar to nepieciešams saprast publisko uzskatu par nāvi kā noklusētu un aizliegtu fenomenu. Otrkārt, Senekas pārdomu maniere darbā izmantoto interpretu atzinumā atjauno mūsdienās zudušo izpratni par filozofiju kā noteiktu izvēli un pastāvēšanas veidu.

The revitalization of Seneca's philosophy in the modern discourses of death medicalization, euphemization and transhumanism may serve as an urge to rethink how it is possible to look at the process of mortality and death, but also the time before that. The thinker of ancient Rome offers an applicable framework of thinking and behaviour, which involves extirpation of the fear of death, preparing for the time of death, and thus optimising and intensifying the existence, as well as the possibility of suicide in certain cases. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to systematically reveal Seneca's thoughts on death by putting them in contemporary context. The contemporary context mentioned in the title of the work permeates the thesis in two aspects. Firstly, this context needs to be understood as the public view of death as concealed and banned phenomenon. Secondly, in the opinion of referred interprets Seneca's philosophy may restore the understanding of philosophy as a certain choice and cast of mind.
